Why does an author website have info about origami?
I’ve been folding almost as long as I’ve been writing. It’s a part of who I am. I’m not acclimated to a new place until I drop some folded pair there. It’s what I do to calm down, it’s what I do to break the ice.
Here are some of my favorite resources:
- the origami handbook – some additions and twists on the classics. The three dimensional / modular forms are especially fun.
- The Great Origami Book – I took this book out so many times from the library I eventually was able to keep it (I think we worked out a deal… maybe I stole it. Oops)
- The Advanced Origami – good for refreshing and trying out new forms. I get a little weirded out when scissors come into play, but I guess they’re fair.
- Mythical Creature Origami – once you get your fingers flying, time to get into some more details folds, and why not bring your fantasy to life?
- Origami jewelry – these need to be small so I don’t do a lot from here unless it’s for a specific purpose. But these do make lovely gifts.
- Google search – okay is this a cop out? Well, when you need to practice some basic forms, it’s all there. Some things reference a particular base, and you’re scratching your head. Also, sometimes when you buy a pack there’s some basic info there too.
